Acura should be commended for that car......... carries traces of its nsx sister

Seriously......... the type r truly is fast as **** compared to the regular ls etc. models.

I wouldnt put money on this one

Where's that video of VeeTec(?)of him ripping a Type R up at the track? Oh btw, Veetec has a 5spd though and very fast...lol. An automagic will killed by a Type R, not much of a contest actually unless you have nitrous.

I raced a Type R out at the track last year... I beat him off the line and I held him off at the finish to win by about a car length. I won the race, but the Type R was clocked about 2-3 mph faster through the lights. I'm glad it wasn't a 3/8 mile race!

Max with a 5 speed will be close

With an auto, forget about it. Anything short of nitrous or SC. You will loose by 2-3 cars by 90mph.

I've personally seen Bruce's car. (Even got to drive it) Its fast as hell. He has no nitrous, SC, or turbo(yet) but it moves. I guess it helps that it weighs in at a little over 2600 pounds and looks about as bare as a stock Civic DX in the engine bay.

I have beaten one.........

I have beaten my buddies 98 type r.........but not by much, and I have intake, exhaust, y-pipe, free flow cat. and sts. He only has CAI and from what I understand that doesn't do much for that car at all. It was a very close race though. We went out to a "special" road we have for having some fun and just let it rip from 0 right up to about 210km/h. He was impressed that I beat him but all he has to do is get a few small mods and I think he will take me.

kinda related

lots of you guys say you beat one... but i have beaten my buddies 2002 GT stang at the track a couple of times. but that car is much faster than mine, though i love saying i beat him, he still has a faster car than me. please bear that in mind when answering a question such as ___________vs maxima. A stock to stock maxima vs. a type R should lose if all things are perfect including drivers. check out http://www.car-stats.com its a pretty cool resource.

My girlfriend's brother....my friend has a 97 Type-R

We've always wanted to race each other some time, but haven't gotten around to it. I let him race my Maxima, and he let race the Type-R under separate occasions. I must say it's pretty darn close. He has a slight advantage with the short gear ratios, higher revving engine, and the LSD. But we are bother under the assumption that my Maxima will win. He's pretty much stock other than an AEM Intake all the suspension mods (keep in mind the Type-R has a stock 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust pipe and no precat). I have an intake, y-pipe, B-pipe, and 5th gen muffler. Other thing to consider are my rotational mass savings: UDP, Wilwood brake kit, and SSR Integrals. If I ever get that Quaife differential, it's all over.

i've beaten two type Rs on the track. one ran 15.2 (beat him by 2 carlengths at least). i beat another type R on NOS. he is my teammate and said his NOS didn't have any pressure. he only ran 14.6. it's a close race, but 5sp maximas have the advantage with the ypipe.

race a type-r

a good driver can get a stock type-r into low to mid 14s in the 1/4. i raced a type-r with i/h/e from 60-135 and pulled about 1 or 2 car lengths on him. that was a couple of mods ago. and also in my jetta not a max.

I've taken a couple type-Rs at the track with little problem. Their 3rd gear is insane to watch out for it
