I couldnt beleave it. I thought it was a mistake or somthing but we went 3 times. I thought that the 95 max had 160hp at the wheels stock? Plus ypipe is dynoed to 15 plus PRCAI should bring me up to 180hp at the wheels give or take. NOT 151!!!!! Now my front 02 sensor is dead and im guessing my air filter is hella dirty but still. Those are some weak number.

cus just about every 95-96 needs one or already has a new one and the knock sensor will retard timing and you will lose like a lot of hp, i got 154 on my 95 with no cat, y-pipe, and CAI but i needed a knock. it was great for runnign a 100shot at 1200psi though, retarded my timing. that's why i didn't replace it, fast NOS cars are SLOW N/A cars.

 

Your O2 sensor was faulty during the dyno's or did this happen afterward. If it wasn't working and you had a CEL on, that could definitely do it. BTW, are you currently able to tell that the car is more slow? Just curious because sometime these things are insidious.

 

the o2 wouldn't affect the dyno, when your at WOT it a hard looped program.

 

So i bet when i replace the 02 sensor my CEL will be on still and it will be the knock sensor, eh? HOw much are those 150?

 

the knock sensor won't trip the CEL on but it will usually throw a code and i think they are like 176

 

got mine for 140 at nissan easy to change (hope you have small hands)

Wow, yet another maxima member who has super low power figures despite mods. I have not dyno'd but my runs at the drag strip with ultra low (88 mph) trap speeds tell me something is a matter.

 

ya dude somethn is wrong with your car man cause in my autotragic i put down 150 hp and 167 ft/lbs with CAI and greddy sp/rt cat.

That number of 151 is HP from the wheels, not the engine HP. That is why it is not 190 or so.

 

The max is 190hp to the crank stock, but to the wheels, a 5-speed max is around 155-160 and an auto is about 135, someone correct me if an wrong.

hey dude don't be disapointed by the max, it is still a quick car compared to many others out there, and yes the autotragic does rob alot of power, but if you have the money you can actually make the auto faster than a 5speed after turbo/supercharger and torque convertor and dons vb, but if you don't have the money to do that then it is best to find a 5-speed or do a conversion, im still debating on what to do right now.

maximas have 190hp at the engine, autos have about 155 at the wheels and sticks have abotu 165-170 at the wheels stock, there is this thing called drivetrain loss.

 

My stock auto was dynoed at 155hp exactly on a hot summer day.

I just replaced my K.S. this weekend. It took about 15 min. Luckily I have small hands and only walked away with one cut. It didn't make a world of difference, but it is noticible and definitly worth the money. Cost about $140. You have to check the ECU for a code since it doesn't trip the CEL.

You will laugh your *** off when you see how small this part is.

 

Nah, not the same. O2 sensors are located in your exhaust system. KS is found under the intake manifold and detects mechanical knocking with the engine.

 

Keep in mind that if there is a consistent knocking in the engine, you still need to find out why its knocking in the first place.

What could some causes of engine knocking? I know it is better to us 93 octane gas, what else could prevent knocking and what can we do if there is continual knocking.

 

The KS will produce a code but will not produce a CEL. Put the ECU in diagnostic mode and see if 0304 turns up. The other more troublesome problem is if the KS does not bring up a code but is inappropriately retarding timing as if knocking was occuring. Kinda like an O2 sensor that "tired" but does not trip a malfunction code.

 

hmmmm. so its a hit or miss.
i don't want to buy a new one if mine is not bad...
