" Does Knock Sensor Failure Affect Transmission Hydraulics??!

HEY GUYS DO CODES 11-06 (tranny 4th gear malfunction)and 03-04 (knock sensor) have any connection? In other words is there some sort of hydraulic pressure performance that the knock sensor exhibits that would effect the transmission? I have been reading various post that have been stating that the knock sensor can have a big effect on engine performance and or compression. 96se auto 167,200 miles all Amsoil lubricants/filtration.

Best Regards

I'm not that farmilar with auto, but I don't see anyway that the two could have anything to do with one another.

Man, everyone has been coming up with knock sensor problems lately. I wonder why they all seems to be going at once.

Knock sensor is engine related & not transmission relate. I highly doubt they are some how related. I personally think its just a coincidence.

It's all conspiracy by Nissan to sell more parts. They programmed the ECU's to kick up the code after a certain timeframe

I don't understand it? I have always used super unleaded fuels, and have a very strict maintenance regimen. I thought that the engine's compression would contribute towards the transmission's hydraulic functions, whereas if the knock sensor allowed a drop in performance and or compression, that there would also be a drop in hydraulic pressure? The part costs 164.00 in MA !

Steve,

You have a very strict maintenance regimen, but that doesn't mean nothing is ever going to fail. I think it's pretty good you drove 167K with no problems so far, but the car won't run like the day it left the factory forever.

You can get a knock sensor through Courtesy or Tustin Nissan for like $140 shipped to save some money, but you're still going to have the transmission problem too, I don't see how they could be related. Then again, I really don't know much about auto transmissions.

iwannabmw, yes i do realize that despite my strict maintenace regimen things are prone (parts wear/age) to happen, its just extra insurance that for the most part has worked for me (no major issues/concerns until now)for that i am grateful Thanks for the information regarding the knock sensor, did you know that some dealers up here in MA charge upwards to $80.00 per hour for labor talk about robbery! One thing is for sure you don't accumulate 200,000-400,000 plus miles beating and treating your machine like a peice of SH%T! My tranny shifts fine its just that once it lags a bit every now and then at the 4th gear. The dealer stated that it seems to be very rare (unheard of). It shifts and maintains the correct rpm's on the highway though and through the city. Prevenative maintenace is less costly and stressful than reactionary maintenace
Thanks again $140.00 sounds good!
Best Regards

Wow, I didn't know they were up to $80/hour, I try to avoid dealers like the plaque. Which one did you take it to? Crest Nissan just moved to Tewksbury, so you might be able to get a deal on service from them thru a coupon or something that they're using to promote their location change.
