My '99 Maxima Owner's Manual says this:
Push the ambient temperature switch. The outside ambient temperature
will be displayed for approximately 5 seconds.

On the '99 Maxima the Ambient Temperature Switch is one of the pushbuttons below the display panel. It is the third button from the left and is marked AMB.

Ambient temp

I have noticed that in MY 97 GLE there is a part in the LCD that says AMB temperature but I have never been able to get it to read out. I also don't see a button for that--so does that mean that display is really just there and we can't use it? That would be a waste.

It would have been nice to see what the ambient temp outside. Oh well, guess I have to resort to the usual morning routine of looking at the weather channel to get the current outside temperature.
