Maxima 99 and 1/2?
hey guys, just got off the phone with Lynn from Warpspeed Performance. she asked me if my car was a 99 and 1/2. apparently, Dallas mentioned something about two different kinds of 99. the "normal" 99s and the 99 1/2. does anybody know about this? i've never heard about it before and neither has Lynn. all i know about my car is that it's a CA spec (i'm assuming this because i bought it in san jose).

i would assume that 99.5 is used to differentiate from the SEL models and Non SE-L models ... thats just my take on things ... bc i think it was some time in feb or march that nissan decided to make all maximas SEL's to make room for the 5th gens ..... And you know this Mannnnnnnn

Probably because some 99s came with the 5th gen alarm system, and also they had a slightly different front strut setup, among other things.
If you have a computer chip in your key, then you have the newer alarm system. Chances are that you have the 99.5 Maxima then. If you just have a regular key, then its a 99.

That makes sense. My 98 was made in July 97. The 95 Max debuted in mid 94. The 2000 Max was introduced in May 99 or so. Nissan uses a calendar a bit ahead of time. Actually, most automaker's do.
