i had the same problem with my car and it was a yr after i bought it. i have a 99 se and it turns out a harness was bad!!!!! and air bag computer!!!!!!! it waas covered under the warranty or else i would ve shelled out 800 bucks!!!!! i dont mean to be discouraging .....try disconnecting the battery maybe it will reset
Re: Re: blinking air bag light
No, disconnecting the battery will not reset it. It will just make your fingers work out more as you have to reprogram your radio.
And airbags are covered for lifetime. After reading those two links I provided and you still have an blinking airbag light, then take it to the dealer.

not a fix but
My '99 SE had been wrecked and the airbag light blinked all the time. My mechanic checked it out and it would cost a fortune to fix it. Well, if you remove the instrument cluster and slide in a piece of black plastic electrical tape over the place where the airbag light shows, when you reinstall the instrument cluster the flashing airbag light will not annoy you.
You still don't have airbags so use your seat belt/harness.

If you couldn't tell already I am bitter about this matter.

I want the airbags. They are a safety device. They need to be fixed. BTW I just reset the airbag light and started the car up and everything is good so far. No blinking. Lets hope it stays that way. I wonder if anyone has thought about a class action lawsuit on this matter. From what I can tell nissan airbag systems falter across all model lines, sometimes deploying for no reason, or in the maxima case always needing servicing. i like my Nissan, but damn, airbags are safety devices and should be the one thing on the car, along with seatbelts, that never need to be looked at or fixed.

For 96bstdSE
Forgot to mention that I had my airbags disconnected at the same time I had the flashing air bag light covered with tape.
I have driven cars without airbags for a long time and use my seat belts. I'm old enough to remember when cars did not even have air bags! Imagine that! How did people ever survive?
Thanks, however, for the nice thought of having my airbags go off at 75 MPH

what the hell?! 800+ dollars for a harness?! My dam airbag was working fine until i did conversion. After that, it started blinking. Me and skeelo reset ECU and no go, we tried just about everything and we looked at it and everything looked connected properly. How do these stupid harnesses go bad from nowhere? What can cause them to go bad and how easy is it to fix? i mean, can't we just take a harness from a junkyard maxima and just replace it? or once the harness goes bad the whole airbag system has to be replaced?
its so stupid how these things can just go. They should last the life of the car or atleast until airbags have been deployed. I'm not changing this sh*t and I guess I'll have to look out more on the road. Dam, now I HAVE to wear seat belts. I thought the air bag still worked....this can't be because of conversion so i want to know what can cause harness to go bad from nowhere.
