Ground Control/KYB AGX Installation Tips...

Hey guys,

I'm going to be dropping my car soon with the Ground Control Coilovers and KYB AGX Shocks. I was just wondering if any of you guys out there who did it yourselves could give me any suggestions or tips when installing.

I searched, but was unable to find any matches. I pretty much know how to change the suspenstion, but I just wanted to hear any tips or "tricks" to doing the job.

Thanks,
-Nick

Me too. I'm doing the same thing as soon as the GCs come in. Nick, I'm in NJ, let me know if you want to set up a install day...Maybe we get a bunch of people together to do this..

there arn't really any tricks to this i have the GC/agx setup just make sure you follow the instructions that GC sends you and you will be fine. it pretty straight foward. ahhh wait almost forgot the front shocks have a hexagon plate around it. its on top of the strut cylinder this will have to be grinded down because the sleeve for the ground controls will not fit over this. if you guys have the shocks you will be able to spot the problem. just grind it down to the point that you can get the sleeves over it. try not to miss to many times with the grinder those shocks are pressurized. hope this helps!!!!

Did you install your suspension yourself? I have never heard of modifying struts to work with the GC's on a 4th gen....are you sure about this?

yeah i did it myself. my nmechanic let me use his lift and tools though. but yeah if you have the shocks look on the front ones there is a hexagon shaped plate where the shock ends. because of the shape of the plate the sleeve won't fit over it. you will see what i am talking about when you look at both the shock and the coilovers. yes it has to be grinded down. i sat there for 1 hour gringding that plate down for both of the shocks.

oh and i used the fat ruber rings in front

and the thin rubber rings in back. the rings are to hold the cyclinder for the coil overs in places.

I just did a GC/agx install yesterday. some things to do is make shure you follow the instructions carefully, have a grinder wheel, dremel, or a file to grind down the hex part on the front struts, make shure you have a working spring compressor(which we didnt have and that was scary ) and lube your front strut bearings to save the headaches from you having to diagnose the creeking noise when you turn the wheels.
