Breather Valve Question

Hey, I bought the breather valve from Discount auto parts. It goes on easy, but I don't know what to do with the other side of the hose that goes to my Place Racing CAI, what did you all do?

Take off the hose and plug up the hole (sensor). You have to or you will get wrong air-flow readings.

I have a question to add - I've had a breather element for about 3,000 miles now and wonder if it could be the cause of a whistling noise I occasionally get. The noise is RPM related and I can't trace it back to any one component. It's only audible like once a week so it's not a big concern and it's hard to diagnose but I'm wondering if other people w/ breather valves experience this??? The breather valve is the only thing I've done recently so I question if that's the culprit. Otherwise I'm afraid it may be my alternator or P.S. pump starting to whine. Thanks.

Why not test your theory and remove the breather and see if it still whines? If the whining disappears you've found the cause. Makes sense.

I used a rubber cork thing... basically anything rubber that fits should do. Just make sure it's tight in there. And Tookrocks I think I have a slight whistling sound due to it as well.

GO to Home Depot and go to the plumbing section and look for a 3/4 rubber cap. Mine is held on by tension but if you wanted to you could use a clamp.
Ravq, I will test my theory. IT is so intermitent though. I've also recently replaced the PCV valve so the system should be working properly???
Thanks for the response Vyrus. I'll post if I am able to determine if my whine is from that.

I read somewhere that people thought it gave 1 hp. I dunno, but my car feels a little faster in the top. (just a little) Here's a link to a thread. In it I, along w/ some other people, explain why we use breather elements.

Hope this helps. ALso, from some of threads I found w/ a search, some others report a slight whistling sound.
