I just spoke to one of the guys from the performance shops and he told me that they discontinue the sale of the CAI for Maximas. He told me that it doesn perform properly, instead of sucking air it push air in. Sometime more then supposed to and car looses more gas and power. also when the carburator or radiator fan <<< I am not sure how its called in the fron is spinning the air from it takes some power and RPM start to jump up and down. Can someone quote him on that.

I have one thing to say, stop talking to people that have no real experience with the Max. There are plenty of guys that will tell you different about the CAI.

No way is this true. If it was, than why do so many of us with CAI's see performance gains, and no problems? Hmmm....
Sounds like this guy deals with too many Civics and Integras, and not enough Maximas.

Not only did this guy not know what he was talking about, but he was probably trying to sell you something (like a tornado air charger worthless thing). Go back and ask him how many max's he's either worked on, owned, or even rode in. You'll probably find his "experience" is going to be very limited. Either way, who do you want to trust with your money? A bunch of us who have had the CAI for a long time and found real gains, or somebody who is obviously blowing more air than the CAI?....

He actually told me that my best bet will be some kind of chip which I have never heard on the maxima.org he sels it for 600 buks and it will give me around 25 horses. He also mention that the supercharger works good after installation but not CAI. He drive himself mazda rx7 I belive. I saw the car he has turbo added to it.

Let me ask you something? How many people on the org have you read about that have the "chip"? There is a reason for that. If there was a "chip" that would give us 25 HP, don't you think everyone here would trip overthemselves to buy one? Why do you think that most people here have the same type of mods, i.e. Y-pipe, CAI, SC, N2O, etc.? The reason is because most seasoned vets to modding have tried the gimmicks and have found them not to be as advertised and have told everyone else here so. After all, isn't that what this whole board/forum is all about? Maxima freaks, helping Maxima freaks. IMHO your guy is FOS, I'll tell you what I bet that I could line up 3-4 of the modded max's here against your buddy's rx-7 and they could all smoke him. After that, ask yourself who knows more about modding max's, them or him?......

Maybe some get added sound confused with performance?

Oh, there is no doubt that the guy in the shop is a moron and that even a newbie on the org knows more than him about Maximas.

But when it comes to a CAI, kinda.

The only bennefit of the CAI is the extra cold air, and that's it?

You mean pushing the air in your engine is BAD? dont tell that to SC and turbo freaks here!!! That's the reason they bolted those on in the first place!
Endine sucks air because there is vacuum created on the intake stroke, and air rushes in to fill it. Engine's "breathing" is only as good as its ability to quickly fill that space as efficiently as possible; that's why people get K&Ns (among other things), cause they "breathe" better. Turbo or SC help engine to "breathe". I won't go here into the whole schpiel of Volumetric Efficiency (can be above 100% with power adders), but that's the deal.
Your engine cant get too much air, throttle body controlls that (by your foot!) Alot air in means more gas gets added, and that produces more horsies at the given RPM. always a good thing.
So, whatever the guy was saying, you either misunderstood, he said it wrong, or he's really full of something smelly. When he said CAI "pushing air in", he probabbly meant "ram effect", which is a good thing, and whatever turbulence created, should be smoothed out by the poping and the air filter.

That guy needs "Performance 101" class, and some common sense wouldnt hurt either!

I dont think there is much ram-air happening, because of all the bends.

Muahahahah..."push air in". Best the luck to the air that's trying to pass the throttle plate.

and what is the advantage of a CAI over a Pop charger? Just colder air?

If that is the venom 400 chip I can tell you first hand that it will make your car slower, a buddy of mine with an auto max ran at the track without it then with it and he ran .5 sec slower with it
