its glued plus threaded on there. Do this, take a wet towel and some pliers and twist conter-clockwise. Some on this board even used bubble wrap instaed of a towel. Do a search, you'll see a thread i started asking this same question.

I'm going to get mine off soon. My STS should be here in a few weeks and I'm very eager to finally get it installed...I've been waiting 4 years(though I just ordered it a week ago). I tried to get the **** off when I first got the car, but the glue won against my hands. I'm going to try the bubble-wrap and pliars / monkeywrench route.

if you dont care about ruining the ****, you can try drilling a little hole in it and stick a screwdriver through it and turn it.

I used a pair of dishwashing gloves & they grip tight! It was definitely a 2-handed job BUT I had no probs whatsoever in getting my stock **** off. A Momo Race Air Leather took its place.

i know what your talking about, i applied a scary amount of pressure to mine ripping some leather off and the thing did not budge. does anyone know if it hurts the actual shifter putting this much pressure on it?

use a blow dryer

Mine came off without too much of a problem on a very hot day. Maybe you should try blasting it with a blow dryer for a few minutes, to loosen up the glue. Then use a piece of sheet rubber (a drain cover for example) or some other tacky material and twist it off. It'll eventually work...
