any idea how to remove knock sensor?

I could fit my hand into the small area, however first thing first, I have to get the old one out. There's a bolt that is holding the sensor in place. I just can't think anyway to get it off. I tried to using a small socket wrench, it fits, but there's hardly any room to budge the darn bolt. For people that done this, how did you do it? I thought all I had to do was to put my small hand in there and swap it out. Not as easy as I thought. Darn bolt! Help?

Try using a longer wrinch if at all possible. Cause then you can get the initial "break" of the bolt. From there use the smaller ones to start turning it until hand tight. Once you get there your all set.

i just used a ratchet with a reeaallllyyyy long extension and a swivel bit at the end. worked really well and was done and running within 15 mins. if you don't have these tools, see if you can borrow them from someone - it really makes the job a lot easier.

Absolutely correct. I did it the exact same way. Long extension, I used a 1/4" drive, and a swivel on a 12 mm socket. It was kind of tight, but I just nutted up on it and broke it loose. To put back is a little trickier, but I just used the same swivel and extension to finesse it back on and started it with my hand then tightened up with the ratchet. Good luck.

Mine was on after 20 minutes of swearing at my car....I cut my hand multiple times taking it in and out of the hole...i broke the bolt by using the 12 point closed end of an open ended wrench...and using a flathead screwdriver as a wedge on the wrench to break the bolt loose....everything was easy from there on out...

Same method. 12mm universal on a long extension.
You just need to get your hand in there to get the new one started. Watch out for those sharp edges.

I don't know how you guys did it, but I'm still stuck. I used the long extension and swivel, but it didn't help. I couldn't turn it because the long extension would hit part of the intake manifold.

One person I talked to used a regular wrench to go at it since it is thinner, he was able to get it from one side of the wires/cables in the way and poke through to the sensor. You might wanna try that. He loosened it that way then reached in with his hands to undo it once the bolt was hand tight.

Interesting idea, I'll give a try.

Well, that didn't work. Wrench was too short. I'm getting tired of this. Maybe I'm going to just leave it as is. Freaking suck.

Try this, turn the swivel to different directions(positions). In some positions, the swivel itself won't let you turn as easy as in others. BTW, the bolt is on there tight. I tried at first and it seemed like the swivel was hindering instead of helping, but I just kept playing with it until it was in a position that it would turn and I just crankend up on it and it just broke loose.

How were you able to turn it? When I tried to turn it, the extension ended up hitting something, just not enough room to budge it.

Cost me about $138.

The K.S. is directly under the intake manifold. If you are looking at the top of the engine near the TB you can see a small space under the manifold. The KS is located in that space with a bolt facing down. There is a 1-wire connector going to it. It's not very big.

I just can't get the old one out. The stubborn bolt is just impossible to get off. I tried the swivel crap with extension, didn't work. Again, there's no room to even try to turn the darn thing. Don't know how you guys did it, maybe I'm unlucky. I don't know now should I just leave it as is because my car still runs, or get the dealer to put it in for me. How much you guys think the dealer will charge for this?

I hope you have a spare arm and a leg if you are going to a Nissan dealer.

Try removing the IM.

Other people were quoted at a price right around 400 bucks or so.

Yeah, I'm thinking of removing the intake manifold first to see if I can reach the darn thing. When I remove the intake manifold, can I reuse the gasket or do I need a new one? Geez...so much of a headache for a little thing like this. I wish I could just sell the darn car and get myself a new car.
