I just read in another thread that the LEDs weren't bright at all. I tried some of the hyperwhite LEDs behind my gauge cluster and they were duller than the factory 194sJust to keep you on your toes.

Really? I thought LEDs make it bright. I try to search on LED and I only find where people said that they are brighter than factory bulbs. Can you show me the thread? Thanks

You got to do some searching friend

There are different types of bulbs. Some say they are LED's and only have a single filament in them. Others actually will contain multiple LED's and will be much brighter.
Depends on what you are trying to make brighter. different ways to skin a cat...

Good luck and do a search for bulbs or LED's. Also, dmbmaxima just had a post about where to get the brightest LED"S.

Why LEDs may not be brighter

I think the issue here is light scattering. The LED produces a more focused beam than the filament bulbs. As such, you'll find the LED very bright directly head on, but dim from off-center views. That might be why they don't work well for some applications like the gauges.

It depends on the viewing angle of the LED >>

There are LEDs with 120 degree viewing angles that are suitable for gauges.

I think these replace 194s

I see what you mean. LEDtronics is quite impressive, although I find their pricing outrageously high for retail consumer applications (probably just fine for industrial/commercial).

Their pricing is because they use many more LED's than say APC. So they will be brighter and will actually come with a 10 year warranty...

LEDTronics is a manufacturer and will not sell to the consumer--what retailer do you use to buy their products? Thanks!
