Raced a 3rd gen max

today my girlfriend was driving my car and a 3rd gen max pulls beside us. he had it lowered and it had an intake and exhaust on it. it looked nice but anyway he revs it next to us and i told my girl to go for it. she raced him to about 90 on the main road and had him by about 3-4 car lengths. when we reached the next light he was clueless to why we beat him so bad. he claims he had the 190hp and not the 160hp. are the 3rd gens really that much slower or is this guy just lying? im an auto and as of now just have an intake and catback exhaust.

92-94 SEs with the VE30 were pretty quick cars usually within a tenth or a few tenths of a second 0-60 as a 4th gen but i think they slowed down a bit for the 1/4 mile, I'm not sure but I think thats what I remember
so I duno it sounds right

The VE auto is a dog it takes off slow and is only quick in the high Rpm ranges, Auto for Auto the VQ is considerably quicker. Now 5spd to 5spd it should be close. It seems to me that the VG auto (great low end torque) pulls harder than the VQ auto until 60mph or so.
