I know that many people have the 50 shots nitrous. A friend of mine just upgraded his NOS system into his Maxima from a 50 shots to a 100 shots. I thought that was a bit much. I'm sure he did something to his internals right? I don't think a stock Maxima's internal can handle a 100 shots/hp NOS setup. He told me that if I want to get nitrous, I might as well get the 100 shots/hp one. The 50 shots one wasn't enough for him. I forgot to ask him how much would getting a 100 shots NOS setup cost. That cost plus the mods that are needed to make the internal of the Maxima handle the 100 shots of NOS. Over $1k? His Maxima is also an automatic like mine except it's a '95. And yes, he races a lot. He's been telling me some much smack about the cars that he killed, and that was when he had the 50 shots NOS. With this new 100 shots NOS, I bet he probably won't shut up.
Lastly, which system of nitrous is the best? NOS, ZEX, Nitrous Express, or what?

100 shot on a stock fuel system is not a good idea, the stock fuel system on the Maxima is week! Has he checked his plugs? Is he using the NOS EFI Dry Manifold kit? The internals should take it from a dry kit because it dosent hit hard because of the distance the NOS has to travel to get to the cylinders. I am working my way to a 100 shot, I have done 80hp so far. The internals will take it, but buyer beware, I think thats about the limit. I have an EGT Gauge so I can monitor the motor closley. I may try higher but not until I am prepared to spend the money to rebuild if it blows. Keep in mind that some of the SC guys are running 280 hp at the wheels.

He is right the 50 shot aint nuthin!

100 shot should be no problem for the Max.

a 100shot setup won't cost much more.. it's just a matter of buying the correct size NOS/fuel jets, which is less than a tank of gas.

The fuel pump should be upgraded to a higher flowing unit, or an inline pump should be used. The Z32 fuel pump is excellent...

one heat range colder spark plug is needed...

a compression test should be done...

NOS, Inc. - I wouldn't trust the ZEX solenoids..

Both of you guys have 5-speeds though.. I would think 100 shot would be a lot of an auto. Which he has. Get VB upgrade first dude. After I get my VB.. sooon.. real soon.. I shall be saving up for a dry kit.. think you can hook me up with a ZEX kit Phuong?

I'm going with a 80shot direct port.

My car is putting down around 160hp right now, so with 80shot. It will be around 240hp, which is a little more than SC auto puts down. My ideal Nitrous kit with installation is going to be around $2000. I'll probably just spent $1500k right now and add the rest later on. For $1500, I'm getting the kit, RPM switch, fuel presure safty switch and bottle warmer. Add another $150 for an hour of dyno time. I want to add remote bottle valve and purge kit eventually. The last two will cost around $250 to add.

a NOS and fuel pressure gauge are also good mods to add (if you have space in the interior).

I don't sell the ZEX kit cuz I don't like it. I don't have 100% confidence in their solenoid reliability

Re: Re: I'm going with a 80shot direct port.

I got a fuel pressure gauge and a tranny temp in the a pillar right now. I don't know where else I can put the Nitrous gauge and EGT. I thought about the radio slot. Get an aftermarket din and I will have enough room. I like the stock bose and I hate to get rid of it for no reason. I might put the fuel pressure and EGT in the a-pillar. Move the Nitrous and tranny temp to a less visible location since they are not as critical. Now, I just need to find a location for them =)

GR Racing has developed this product for the 300ZX:
<img src="http://www.cyberhosts.net/~gotrice/products/misc/pod01.jpg">
<img src="http://www.cyberhosts.net/~gotrice/products/misc/pod05.jpg">

Perfect for those twin turbo Z guys that have no room for gauges or just don't like the a-pillar gauge. The stock housing above the speedo is used as the basis, so it fits perfect. The gauge holder is fully customizable, so it can be made to fit any size gauge.

Anyone have a picture of the Maxima piece? Maybe it's possible for the Max... But, this piece is labor intensive, so it's not the cheapest mod around. For the Z, it takes about 15 hours from start to finish due to the amount of waiting in between each application (I can't give out my trade secrets on how it's made.. hehe), resulting in a price of $225.

this is just a wish( hope to do list). in february i will have the heads and intake manifold taken off. port and polished. valve job with a higher flowing angle.if i can find stainless valves i will get them put in. and use high performance head gaskets , and if needed more head bolts inserted. then i will get a 50-100 shot of nitrous for laughs. that should take me over 400 hp.

Sleeper...

While the tops off, get some pistons and rods. Thats where you are going to pop a stock motor.

Cup holders? They can't even hold a snapple bottle.. > So maybe you can put the gauges in there.. Easy access. And you can hide them easy. You'd be losing your cupholders.. So I guess you'd have to think about that one. keep us updated on the NOS setup.. =) I'm so itching to do it.. But I have to come up with the extra money first.. Maybe I should do suspension first.. Hhehe.. more things to thin about. Oh well.

i hope to do that too. jamie was running 200 shot of nitrous. and after awhile, probably 2 years of drag racing with nitrous he only blew a ring. as you know he ran a 12.6 with drag slicks and 12.8 with drag radials.
