What's a Breather Filter?

What is this? I see it on some maxima's. Does it give any gains or is it just for looks?

the breater filter is a tiny looking filter, usually round. I think it has to do with the oil and temp of the oil in the motor. When you are looking at the stock intake look for a hose that runs from the Throttle body to the side of the motor. Thats where you want to put it. MAke sure to cap off the oppsosite end by the throttle body. Doesnt do a thing except look good!!
