I have a Pioneer head unit right now. I am thinking of installing a new/different Pioneer unit. Forgot which model it is, but it's the one with the cool graphics. So, is it as easy as just swapping out the old unit for the new unit?
I'll try to give some info since I asked a similar question earlier today. You can find the instructions for removing your dash in this thread. I just bought a new Sony head less than 30 min ago after my factory unit died this morning.
st: take off the trim around the shifter, pops off with clips and remove the cigarette lighter wire.
remove the 3 screws along the bottom of the console. Think they are 8mm, then pull out the ashtray
by the clock up top, pull upward and to yourself and the whole clock piece should just pull out.
now there is two more screws at the top holding in the center console.
pull out the console and remove the 4 screws holding in the factory radio.
add the wiring harness's for the new radio that you bought
 DONT FORGET THE ANTENNA WIRE!!
re-install your new radio (without the metal sleeve that it comes with)
use the same 4 screws for the new radio
 re-assemble in reverse order
cruise around town with your new tunes!!
