So I changed my fuel filter, but.....
First of all, that was a pain in the butt to change out. Scratched my hands trying to reach down there. Second, i thought i had all the pressure out, but it still sprayed me with gasoline when i pulled the line off.
A few questions:
1. I did this a couple days ago and i can still smell gasoline blowing in my car from the vents. Is this because i sprayed gasoline everywhere or could it be because i have a leak in the line, ie. i put a hole in it from trying to remove it? is there a way to get the smell out or do i just have to blast the vents for the next few days and try to air it out?
2. If i did damage the line, is it fair to assume that it wouldn't be able to hold pressure and it wouldn't start properly? It seems to start without problems, but i'm trying to isolate that as one of the causes.
3. Someone on here suggested changing the rubber lines. I changed the top one, but how do you change the bottom one? ie. how do you reach the bottom part of the lower fuel line?
thanks...

i just changed mine and spilt gas all over just like you did. Although within an hour the smell was all gone. So you might have a problem there. I would also just turn ur car on and look down there and just see if you can see a leak yourself or hear it. I cut my hands up also trying to get that thing off, its easier i found with 2 people, one person twisting the fuel filter and the other holding on to the tube.

Really? mine ran for almost a minute before it stalled out. Then i kept starting it up and it would stay on for a few seconds. It took a lot longer to stall it out than i expected it too.

an update Re: So I changed my fuel filter, but.....
Big problems - i think the upper tubing was the wrong type of tubing. BAD BAD BAD consequences!!!!! I tried to tighten the hose clamps because i was still smelling gasoling. Instead of sealing it, it cut through the hosing. nothing but trouble - it didn't hold pressure and i tried to drive it like that. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! I'm lucky to have not gotten in a wreck. At the end, I had driven maybe 11 miles and I had lost all the gas in my tank (2/3 tank) and rolled into a parking lot on fumes. Lucky for me, some guy who does roadside fixes happened to have an extra tube for me to replace my cut up tube. Its a little bit big (I can still smell gas coming out), but it'll work for now. I'm going to go back and replace it with the right size and hopefully that will solve my problems. This should be an easy easy job, but it has become a nightmare.
moral of the story: learn from my boneheadedness and USE THE RIGHT TUBING!!!!! (ie heavy duty fuel tubing or something like that). If any of y'all have anymore insight or hints to help me finish this, I'd greatly appreciate it.
thanks!

Re: I just changed my fuel filter but...
Yes, that's what i was going to suggest....Did you you use the high pressure fuel injection tubing? This is highly a MUST for that the fuel is under very high pressure in fuel injection cars. Any other type of tubing will just swell and eventually burst! Lucky for you you caught it real soon and nothing serious had happened. Hopefully, this should cure your problem. Good Luck.
