Your supposed to make a cut in your heat shield if you staret hitting it. How is it not stable?

i haven't considered cutting the heat shield. thanks...i'll look into that. the STS isn't stable...by this i mean...like when i'm in gear...i can still "wobble" or "move the shifter as if it was in neutral"...you know what i mean? it's not as movable as it would be in neutral...but it still moves left and right while in gear...is that normal??? thanks

quick question

I just got my Pacesetter STS and the shifter and the delrin ball are separate. Am I suppose to force the ball from the top, past the bend and to the threads of the bottom of the shifter? I'm trying to get it there, but I'm afraid of busting the ball.

You did not put one of the bolts in right. I dont know the name of it but either your missing it or just did not fully put it in. It is one of the main ones you remove when doing this setup. Double check everything. Did you have any left over? I assume it is this because I did the same thing

You might have this a bit backwards. The higher to the top you put the ball the lower and shorter the shifter. Now you dont want to force it over if not neccesary. Are you sure you cannot screw it from the bottom to the top? I have the SMC so I did not use the same as you but just taking a guess. but mine had the ball that was also detached and I just screwed it onto the threads until it was near the top of the threads.

Hmmm, now I wish I had the SMC. The Pacesetter STS has a 15-20 degree bend in it at one point. The ball is a separate unit and you have to get the ball down past the bend. I called them up and they said it takes some grease and a lot of force. They wanted to make a smaller bend, but they also wanted to keep it as close to the stock bend as possible. I currently have the ball stuck in the middle of the bend and for the life of me, can't get it past that. I'm tempted to sand or shave part of the bend, or take it to someone who might have a better idea.

This is NOT normal, and you probably need to torque down some of your nuts. I had this problem, and after leaving it for a few weeks 2 nuts fell off while I was driving on the highway and I was unable to engage any gears.
The nuts that hold the linkage still are 08911-1082G and there are 2 of them. They need to be torqued for 55ft-lbs.
Here's my other threads if you care to read more on my situation.

You'll notice no one really offered advice except Mishmosh I guess intake and ypipe discussions were more important.
