Don't paint anything... Do a search for "clear tail", there are instructions out there somewhere for pulling the amber section outta your taillights and replacing with a clear piece. This way there's no need to go looking for a matching color for your red tails, much less trying to paint anything.

you cant remove the amber part on the 95/96 maximas - dont paint it - it will look wierd........you can get all clear tails online and do what ever u want with those - but painting the stock ones wont work out too good.........if you do choose to paint them, its best to paint them from the inside

correct, you can't remove the amber sections on 95-96. also, painting the inside wont work. think about it. if the lense is already amber, how would any other color of paint show through? they are not clears. if you want to do it and have it look good, you're going to have to sand down the entire tailight with 800 sandpaper WET. then do several light coats of what ever color you want. then clear coat it several times. then take out the tail light on the trunk and mask off the clear and do that too.

Will that actually work if i just sand down the amber colr or is the plastic colored amber... .i thought the plastic is amber and it's not painted...if it is painted i am willing to do it cause it is so hard to get red/clears for my 96 max. if i do it i need procedure and materials...maybe a pic will help me see wat the finished product will look like
