Lumina Z-34 vs. Maxima

As soon as my Z is sold, I can buy a Maxima. Oh I can't wait. That Z-34 was the worst car to work on. They had to practically remove the engine to replace the timing belt ($800). The had to jack up the car and remove the front axle just to replace the alternator ($400).
Brakes = $800. The labor alone on the power steering pump was over $200!!! It is fun to drive though.

I know the Max doesn't break near as often, but SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THAT ITS A MUCH MORE PRACTICAL CAR AND DOESN'T COST A CRAP-LOAD TO FIX WHEN YOU DO HAVE TO FIX IT!!!

By the way, anyone want to buy my z?

Most things with just a bit of time on your car you can fix yourself. I have found that the Maxima is much more workable than some of my last cars were. Yes it does have better reliability that many other cars out there as well. What year you looking at getting?

I will probably get 97-98 year SE -- manual if I can find one.
However, I live in NE, so everyone went for the auto.

Yeah it can be tough to find. Actually mine is a 98 SE 5 speed and it took some time to track it down. Try looking in the Maxima's for sale forum right here in this site. It can't hurt.

Try Hawkins (used to be Bellevue) Nissan. I bought 2 4th Gen 5 speeds from them.. Very nice and very fair prices. Bought my 99 SE 5 Speed from them for $20K even.
