coolant leak around throttle body

My '95 has 230,000 miles on it (talk about a reliable well built engine!!!). I have been having some small coolant leak puddles recently and it appears to be coming from the bottom of the throttle body. It looks like a small water line runs up to it, and a "piston type" plunger deal works off of the water temperature and controls idle speed. No dealers in my area stock this small part, so I had to order it. I was shocked to find this unit, about the size of a walnut, costs $135.00!!!!! Has anyone else enountered this same leakeage problem????

If you live in a warm climate you can live without the throttle body heater. Remove both hoses from the throttle body and join the open ends with a suitable piece of tubing and a pair of hose clamps. Some performance enthusiasts do this in hopes of gaining a few "free" horsepower as a consequence of a cooler incoming air stream.

Thanks for reply - unfortunately I live in Kansas and it does get cold here in the winter with lows temps typcially 0- 20's - so, I think I need to keep this connected. When I went to pick up the $135.00 part, it had a 5" cage with a large holding spring - I was told this was for shipping??? At any rate, in looking at the main part I determined that no water actually flows through the piston device, rather the water circulates around it. The part is held in place in the throttle body by a small clamp with single small screw. It appears to be "sealed" with a small rubber O-ring. I dedicded not to buy the part. Mysteriouslly mine has now stopped leaking - but if it starts again I am just going to replace the O-ring from a plumbing supply shop and use some gasket sealer. Thanks again.
