when driving. car is a 5 speed with ~70 miles or so. Really evident in 1st gear going really slow. Push in the clutch, noise goes away. Speed up, gets louder, slow down, gets quieter. Any ideas? I would imagine that it must be related to the transmission. I have redline MT-90 in the tranny, if that makes any difference. Thanks for help.

I had a humming noise coming from the front of my 97, thought it was the transmission because a low speeds it was louder than at higher speeds. Turned out to be the alternator. The part alone was 350.00. But it is running great now.
