For performance I have a jwt popcharger, y-pipe, and cat.
Automagic.
I would like to smoke up my tires without
doing a neutral drop. I've tried using the e-brake,
torque braking, and just slamming the gas, but
no go. I can brake the tires free if I'm turning.
I realize that there isn't much hp at 1500 rpm, but
isn't there enough torque to break the tires free?!

what do mean why.
It's like shooting a gun.
or
beating up some a-hole.
It's a show of power.

Who's power? The cars? Yours?

Give me a break.

Unless you're warming up your drag slicks at the track...burnouts make you an idiot.

that's funny

when i first started driving this car (97 gle all-stock) i was squealing the tires everywhere because i was used to driving a slow/weak accord... try getting some crappy tires and you'll break free all over the place... and also possibly kill yourself taking a corner too fast... but at least you'll be able to impress your friends in the HS parking lot... (just messin w/ u)

Go to the junkyard, get some 15 inch steelies. Then get some cheapo tires. Like ... the cheaper, the better. Mount them. Pull e-brake. Go wild.

Stock toyo with half the tread left.
My concern is whether there is something wrong or needs to be replaced. Should i have enough power to spin the tires.

Spinning tires isn't an indication of anything wrong or right with the car. It's only an indication that you are easily amused.

Hey Guys....what a way to come back from Easter thing are a little wild on the forum. I'm running 235-45-17 Nitto 555ZR's BIG PATCH ON ROAD! with 26 lb. Momo Sports....my 96 is up to par and I sure as hell can't get a smoke show. But, I do get surprized sometimes and get a small burn out if I get quick and a little heavy from a dead stop. The old stock 15" would surprise me by breaking loose occasionally. I would rather get a power chirp and roll off impressively than beat my bearings up with a wheel hopping smoke show...but, thats me in my old age. It's those Nitto's which grab like glue.....

I am sure that your popcharger does not help matters.. Can you say lag?

Try putting the stock airbox back on, and then stop your car on a hill facing uphill. Then floor it. You'll have a good chance of peeling out.

Smokin' 'em!

Hmmm, I have just the opposite problem in my 95 SE auto, stock alloys and aquatreads. I can't get 'em to stick for anything. Just tap the gas from a stop and they break loose like crazy.

Hopefully that'll change with new tires.

maybe your tires are too good...if u had bad tires, u would slip a lot easier, OR you just need a tune up cause my tires are pretty new and i have no performance mods but my tires spin out at free will from stop, no smoke though, but u can smell the burning....
