97 ECU chip

anybody know if there's ever going to be an ECU upgrade chip that's coming out for the 97+UP 4th gens? or am i just holding onto a non-existent reality? its just unfair that the 95-96's have but not 97 up. IMHO shed some light please on my cloudy reality.

Nope.

The ECUs in the 97 and later cars are just harder to work with. Not impossible, but a lot harder than the earlier ones.

You can do what the 97+ SE-R/SE crowd did. Swap in a 95-96 ECU and make a 97+ to 95-96 harness convertor. Basically you would need a male plug from a 97+ ECU and rewire the pin outs to match the 95-96 ECU.

You can use a modded 96 ECU (JWT or G-Force), I know of a few guys that have done it. You may pull a check engine light though. The 97 won't realize the same gains as a 96 would, but there are definite gains, I've watched them dyno.
