I've got a 97 SE. 60k, I have the auto climate controls. I have a problem. The digital clock will occasionally go blank, when I tap it she comes back but resets to 1pm. Any ideas?

Here is some advice posted on the alt.autos.nissan.maxima newsgroup by an auto repair professional.

Subject: 3rd gen. clock fix
Date: 08/15/2000

To rebuild the clock
Remove from Dash
Remove covers
Separate circuit boards by desoldering
Remove and resolder ALL contaminated solder joints (they will bubble up)(don't remove the parts)
There is a resistor added (modification) to the top of one of the boards that needs careful attention.
Replace the 1, 10 & 47 microfarad electrolytic capacitors (they may not be bad now, but they will go bad)
Replace covers
Reinstall clock
Works every time
