Which optima red top (model #) people using on their max, or is there only one model #? Any help greatly appreciated.

 

whats the big deal with these batteries? i see some people on here talking about these batteries but i dont know what the difference is between the optima or a diehard battery. can someone please tell me the difference.

Red top - starting power
Yellow top - deep cycle to handle constant accessory loads (stereos)
Blue top - for boats.
Orange top (new) - the site says these are the recommended batteries for our Maximas (at least mine) but it also says they are for European cars, so I dunno what the deal is with these things.

 

The orange top is the same as a red top, but it has reversed posts so that if fits better. I have the red top. There are only two types of red top. One with 850 CA and one with 950 CA. Just get the one with 850 CA because you don't need that much power and its cheaper. The advantage of Optima batteries are many. First, its a dry cell sealed battery. This means you can mount it in any position (even upside down) and not fear any leaking. Also, they can be abused a little more than you average battery. The Optima can be deep cycled (drained) many times before the cells get damaged. They require no maintenance and no venting, which makes them perfect for trunk mounting. This makes them a good race cell as well. They're also much smaller and lighter than the normal batteries. (29 lbs.)
