I just got a 96 SE and the passenger floorboard is all wet. Does anyone have any ideas. And also does anyone make a shorter shifter(5sp), its feel like I'm driving a truck.

Thanks
David

I don't know about the floorboard.. But, the shifter. If you get an after market shiftknob that doesn't use threads to attach. You can use a hacksaw and cut off the top of the shifter. It won't shorten the throw that much. But it will shorten the shifter. You can also get a short shift kit from stillen, or pacesetter.

I chopped my shifter about a 1 1/2 inches,

I used a bolt cutter, about the floor board being wet did you or someone else looking at the car wet your pants?Or maybe you purchased a flood car? You should check its history and make sure. And there should be a picture below my post of the shifter,it will be ther until late tomarrow.Peace

This might be a rain leak or a leaky heater core. Push against the wet carpet with your fingers, to pick up some of the liquid. Rub your fingers together. If the feeling is "greasy" the liquid is probably engine coolant, and you need a new heater core. If the feeling is "clean but wet" you may need to have your windshield resealed. Do your Maxima have a sunroof? If so, that could be the source of the water.
