P/S flush

I was told by my dealer that I should do a BG Power Steering system flush soon.

2 ?'s...

1) Has anyone tried/done it?
2) Is there better performance, steering-wise from the service?

Unless your having a prob with your p/s don't bother. If your that concered you can drain the resevior and refill it your self. BG prob suckered them into buying that machine and now they have to pay it off. Also check your maintenance schedule. I don't think it sais anything agout flushing the p/s fluid.

There's no scheduled maintenece of PS fluid, but depending on how many miles your car has it might be worth it to change it. I'm going to do a drain and fill this summer because I was getting a squeek from my power steering this winter. I also noticed some fluid on the underbody of my car and on the boot on the PS rack, but none on the ground Hopefully I have a really slow leak or something because I don't want to be replacing the rack.

Go ahead and change it yourself...

The PS fluid "cooler" is in front of the A/C heat exchanger... Just take off the bottom hose and the PS fluid should drain out... If you want you could quickly start the car and turn the wheel left/right. to pump the rest out... do this quickly cuz you can burn out the pump. Reattach the hose then refill with Mobile 1 Dexron ATF, restart, turn wheel left/right, refill to the appropriate level.

Dirty PS fluid can mess up (wear) the seals in you PS Pump.
