Spoiler install and pics

I bought a spoiler from netgearhead.com for $114 + $70 to paint it. Shipping was free. The Spoiler took about a week to get to me from Ohio and it was packed extremely well.

Anyway, installation took about 1.5 hours with the help of two friends. Most of the time was spent measuring and re-measuring, and re-re-measuring. Im very happy with the overall look and when I paint my moldings and door handles, it will look even better.

Good job man. Just a few q.s for you. Where did you get it painted and how much? Also, is it just me or is that taller than stock but not quite as tall as a Type II??? Is it an o.e.m. spoiler? I know exaaaactly what you mean by measure and re-measure! Same here with my spoiler and Fuba antenna!

Netgear painted it for me for $70. The guy's name is Corey and he was very helpful and timely in his responses. http://www.netgearhead.com/

You know what, I was just talking to my roomate about the height. Someone on this forum has already said it's a little taller than stock. This is a view of what a type II looks like on Cumalot's ride, compare it to the back pic of my spoiler.

It's supposed to be a OEM spoiler replica, but if it looks Type II, that's cool with me . Ive never seen a Type II up close so I couldnt tell you the difference.

Hey, I removed Type II pic so you can get the props. Now you have it back up. Oh well.

to me it is definitely taller than stock, but i don't know if it is quite the height of the type II...so you might be right with the "medium"

Type I.V maybe?

Either way, it does look awseome. Has anyone measured the height of the stock spoiler? That would probably be an easy way to find out.

I didn't shave the keyhole, it's still there. I just had the paint shop paint over the keyhole to match the rest of the trunk. Btw, I'm no longer getting the 97-99 trunk lid, just not worth it. Money better spent on a JWT ECU for example.

DC, nice work... I'm tossing around the idea of doing it too.

How did you power the third stop light? Is there an unused connector lying behind some paneling somewhere, or did you splice into existing tailight wires?

Re: Spoiler install and pics

Okay, I ordered from him today. I emailed quite a few questions beforehand and was very prompt with replies. He said his spoiler is exact to stock. I agree, it does look a bit taller to me as well.

I paid $199 painted and shipped.

Local body shop is only going to charge me $25 to install.

Questions: Is there a link in the trunk already for the 3rd brakelight?

And, The spoiler came with a template and all hardware and rubber bushing for spoiler to rest on the car on?

Thanks for this thread, I was debating on putting my mint 95 GLE through the torture of drill holes (ugh!) for a spoiler, It helped me make my final decision to do it.

Yes, there was already a clip for the third brake light taped back near the drivers' side tail light. It's possible that all 4th gens were fit with that incase the owner wanted to add a stock spoiler. I simply cut off the clip and connected the spoiler LED wires to the 3rd brake light wires and removed the 3rd brake light. I still have to get the piece that fits in over where the 3rd brake light went.

The spoiler came with all necessary hardware: bolts gaskets, washers, etc. You need to pick up some masking tapes to hold the drill template down however, you still have to have a rough idea of where you want the spoiler to go. It's a good idea to get some pics of stock spoilers that pay attention to how far the wing hangs over the back end. It will be much clearer for you once you have the spoiler and are looking at all the parts.

Again, thanks for the all the input. I will have this spoiler in less than a week. I am looking forward to it. And so far, this seller is great to do business with. I hope I am as satisfied with product as you were.

When I had a spoiler installed on my 99, there is a plug under the cover of the trunk lid on the factory wireing harness for a factory installed spoiler. He just plugged it in and everything works fine. No need to cut any wires. Don't have to go near the third brakelight.

Looks good. I just got mine installed too. Got it from spoilersforless.com. They were quick as well and paint matched perfectly. I would def recommend them if you are looking to get a spoiler.
