Worth buying K & N drop in filter??
#2
I got one
When I looked at air filter options, the K&N drop-in made sense to me so I got one. I have no dyno results but if you improve engine air flow you should improve performance. Check out the K&N link

The K&N drop in is worth it for the resusability alone. I've had ine for over 100,000 miles and I've saved money by cleaning it instead of replacing it.
Just something else to consider.
But, given the recent de-bunking of K&N marketing claims, I'd say go with a foam filter like ITG or AMSoil.

I have had my K&N panel for about 40k mi . . .
-& bought it primarily for the reusability as well. Honestly, as much as I *wanted* to feel a difference, I can't really say there was much of an improvement on the butt-dyno.
This is O/T, but related. . .
I'm in the middle of an OSCAI project, so hopefully, that turns out well - wanted to preserve my investment in the K&N, but still shoot for a mild performance gain. (Plus, I like a good project) -Also just completed the "$15 upper intake" mod recently posted in 4th Gen forum. (Mostly an intake "sound" improvement & for cleaning up the engine bay: no measurable performance gain (again, going by the patented "Butt-Dynamometer 6000" [BD-6000]) Nice, throaty intake growl at WOT, and at high RPM's - otherwise, sounds mild: close to OEM. Sleeper-style: just the way I like it.
Good luck with whatever you choose!

I didn't know you could do the "upper intake" mod and still keep the stock air box... These are the 2 mods I'd like to do as well since I already purchased the K&N drop in.
Do you have pics? That would be greatly appreciated.
