So the other my cousine his buddy and i were coming home from a sold out movie. We were crusing down state street, a popular racing street where i have gotten many races before. Well anywho, i pulled up to a red light...it looked like this, 2 people in a v6 grandam on the far left lane. This is what i was amazed by, like an 90? something, old celica...i think that is what is was. It wsa a small little coupe, looked like a small shoebox. And thne me in my maxima w/no performance mods yet (x-mas =>) Well the light went green...got a decent launch, at the time my cars alignment was offf, so i would get tire spin pretty easily..welll the old celica SHOT OFF THE LINe. i was like holy ****!!! it hought i was guna get smoked..., but i had a much longer 1st gear, so by the time he had to shift, i was still accelerating. I ended up beating him in good ol'2nd gear....gotta love 2nd. The pontiac lost...but put up a decent fihgt..

Anyone else ever run into these older cars and have been like DA_N that thing cna go?

yeah, an old VW GTI

One night on the highway this rusted, dented, just crappy looking mid-80s VW GTI challenged me. I started laughing, dropped it down to 3rd and punched it. I would soon stop laughing. This POS pulled on me from 100+. At 120 he was still pulling ahead of me. We ran into traffic so we both slowed down to safe speed. But I lost. I still can't beleive I lost to this beater. The Max sucks at higway speeds. CAI, y-pipe, and exhaust still couldn't keep a junk VW from beating me. Kind of depressing...I guess I can blame my heavy 17" wheels

Hmmmm....my Max is deadly for a 4-door on the topend. Before I had my intake, y-pipe, b-pipe and rt cat, my Max wasn't so great on the topend. Now 3rd gear is my most wicked gear. I've walked many GTPs, Mustangs, GT-S, VR6s, SHOs, lots of Civic Si's in a 50+mph roll on race. I've even run a 15.0@96+mph in the 1/4 at KCIR which is a pretty awesome mph for a NA Maxima.

A fricken Rotary

I once got killed by a rusty 1st gen Mazda Rx7. It looked bone stock. I figured that since the US RX7's had only 100 horse's, I could take him easily. I was wrong big time. Guy did something to the car because as soon as he hit the gas he went flying and blew out my ears with his loud a$$ car. Guy was fast!

I'll bet it was a Celica All-Trac. Same engine as the MR2 Turbo hooked up to AWD. They're very fast, and easily modified

Australia is an interesting place to see low budget mean machines. As i live her ei often see heeps of old Datsun 1200 and 1600 with engines such as the SR20 DET (2 litre turbo (200 horses) and FJ20 DET (same diff but an older version) when oyu consider tweeking these engines and bringing about 350 horses out of them easily and placing them into cars that weigh around 8-900kg you ahve some mean machines, i found out from experience.
