Addco RSB question

Does the Addco Rear Sway Bar really reduce that much roll on the max?

I'd like to know what people have experienced with it and without it.

Installed mine yesterday (along with y-pipe and udp), but it made hugh different. My maxima is on stock suspension and rolls around corners. This mod really tightened it up. NOw I can not what to get a new suspension.

YES !! It's very noticable especially if your on stock suspension.

Does anyone know how large the Addco bar is? I'm too lazy to go and measure mine and my buddy said anything under 20mm on a car of our size is useless.

I've had mine on for a few months. It realy tightens up those corners when used with a FTSB. Now I need some new struts to finish the deal.

If you think the members here are subject when it comes to answering this question, I can have my wife attest to it. She typically doesn't feel the suspension mods I put on the cars (except that one time I cut a coil off the Eibachs on the Eclipse). She couldn't tell the difference between H&R and stock springs. She couldn't tell the difference with the FSTB. But she felt the difference of the Addco RSB right away at Turn 3 (not any race track you know of, just a tight turn I refer to in my neighborhood) right after I put it on.

What about after you modify your suspension? I am waiting for my struts and spring to get to me in the mail, has anyone added the RSB after therir drop? Do you still feel a difference?

Yes!

You will notice a difference and it does reduce bodyroll on the Max, especially on a stock suspension.

That's how I did it Sudz. I had done everything else first. 17" z-rated tires, FSTB, lowering springs/shocks ... and then the RASB. I barely noticed anything at all. My car handled like a train on tracks before and it did after. It's nice to have and worth doing but it won't knock your socks off or anything. Just one guys opinion...

I never measured the RSb, but it is defintiely larger than 20mm. I'd say it's close to 35mm...No way its under 20 though, HUGE improvement.

Per Addco's website the diameter is 7/8" or a little over 22mm.

If I remember correctly the Addco is 7/8" in diameter or about 22.2mm. 35mm would be a little over 1 3/8" and it is nowhere near that big.

Body roll is definitely reduced which improves turn-in response and almost eliminates understeer.

Great mod for the money...

Smooth Op, I have seen your sig pic for a while now and I just don't get it man. I really don't. Why would a Nissan Maxima SE with Chrome Altezzas look like a Chevrolet Impalla LS Sport with body color panels around its taillights? Two totally different cars, not to mention two totally different tail lights. No offense, I just don't get it.

Its a visual similie. I'm stating that adding Altezzas to a Maxima will make it look like a Japanese Impala. Magazines such as Road and Track and Motor Trend already mentioned the similarity between the rear ends of Impala and the Maxima, and I agree with them to a degree. The shape of the outer taillights are similar, plus the decling slope to the center of the car is similar. IMO Altezzas installed on a Maxima draws the resemblance closer. Both cars now have BIG ROUND CIRCLES for taillights. Okay so the Altezza's are chrome and the reverse lights are half-circles... but people are now painting the chrome areas body-color.

Originally I was going to include an additional "plus" sign and a pic of a spraycan between the Altezzas and the "equal sign", and include a pic of a Sexima-like car (took a pic of a Max with body-colored Altezzas in LA) next to the Impala, but I wanted to keep the sig pic clean and simple... like a basic math problem. I want it to be 1+1=2 and not turn it into 2+[232/2.57*43^4]+3+ etc,etc for the sake of clarification. I figured most would figure it out w/o a problem. Thats my explanation.

HAHA! I read something like that in a "You know you're a racer when..." list.

"You know you're a racer when you refer to the corner at the end of your street as Turn One"

There you are

I'm sorry but I still don't get it. The only similatity is the round taillights. Period. And certainly you can't generalize and start saying Maximas with Altezzas look like all other cars w/ round taillights. Ex. Corvette, Skyline, school busses, etc. So why an Impalla?

Anyway, I guess we just don't agree.

Corvette: 2dr
Skyline: 2dr
School Bus: Bus
Impala:

With a slight subpar editing of the Impala, we have this...

If you don't see the similarity there, then oh well. Like I said I wasn't planning to turn my sig pic into a vector equation to explain itself. Oh well. Its cool we don't disagree.

Definitely reduces roll (even with my Eibachs & Konis I can tell the difference)..

Also, I'd like to add that for the first time ever in my Max, a few weeks ago, I experienced *OVER*steer!!! That's right, I wasn't expecting it, but as I was making a left turn into my neighborhood (that's turn 2 BTW), I steered to the left and let off the gas at the same time, and BAM! I felt the rear end slipping out to the right! I quickly straightened out a little bit and gave it some gas and we were off!

I was like "HELL YEAH"!!!!!!

I'm sure a similar thing might happen even w/out the RSB, but I just never felt it before in this car. Now the RX7... that's a different story.
