intake kit
intake kit
anybody know about those intake kits that use the K&N cone filter that are sold on ebay? They look kinda similar to the stillen intakes, but the billet aluminum part doesn't have the smooth curved inside part. anyway, these are a lot cheaper than the stillen intakes and i was just wondering if anybody had one and what they think of it. are pretty close in performance to the stillen intakes?
Get a Jim Wolf, same thing as stillen, just a lil cheaper. About 120. Only thing is that it doesnt use a genuine K & N, no ambient temp sensor hole, and a flimsier bracket, but it does the same job for cheaper. Then later on do a hybrid. The curved piece is called a velocity stack, helps the air move faster, hence giving you more power.
If you want a cheap e=bay intake I'll sell you one. I had it on my Max for about a month, took it off & got a Stillen. The e-bay ones will work. but it's got 2 problems :
1.) When I say "cheap", that it is. It's poorly made.
2.) The vibrations from the engine will cause it to fall off on a regular basis. I had to build a brace to keep it on the car. It worked. but the whole thing looked "home made".
So do what ever trips you trigger. This is just my 2 cents worth.

ya, i've seen different intake kits on ebay. i've seen ones that use a genuine K&N filter, and the ones that have the "K&N style" filter. i htink the "K&N style" filter looks pretty cheap, is that the one you had before? what i wanted to know was about the one that uses the genuine K&N filter, because in the pictures, it didn't look that bad, and it usually runs around 90 i think
I bought my Stillen used for about $100 - 125 from one of the guys here at the org.
so if you are looking at $90, it might be an option.
