Does it do it *only* when the car is cold (within a couple minutes of starting)? If so, you have clutch chatter. I have the same thing on my '99 with 32K miles. I noticed it within the first 10K miles actually.

I know some folks have bought ACT clutches and they reported that the chatter was gone.

WHY YELL!

Anyway, it could be the engine not running a smoothly. Try a basic tuneup, change oil, air filter, feul filter. The car runs much smoother just after an oil change etc.

It is normal, don't worry about it. . . If you search for this topic you will see that most 5-spd owner have this problem. It normally happens at slow speeds and in 1st gear and I don't know if anyone has ever really come up with a reason for it.

My car does it too...mostly when it's cold and damp...but it does it other times also...only in 1st and 2nd gear. Sometimes the whole car vibrates and it is impossible to shift smoothly..other times it smooth as silk. It'll sometimes vibrate, though not as much, downshifting to 4th or 3rd. After reading all the posts on clutch chatter, I've concluded that it is something that I am just going to have to live with...It's just a little embarrasing when you're on a date..
