O2 Sensor Problem

Alright ever since I got my WSP Y-pipe on my check engine light keeps gettin tripped by the front bank O2 sensor...Now the O2 sensors are brand new Nissan OEM last year and I dont think its a bad sensor. I think its the y-pipe tripping the sensor cause after I reset the light, it takes about 40-60 miles to come back on..
All these guys with bad O2 sensors have there engine light trip within minutes...Please someone help me out..I dont want to buy a new o2 sensor for thew front bank when it will probably get tripped again anyway.
I do have a small crack in the pipe that I have to repair that may be tripping it as well..

Also why do I have a loud bees in a can sound when I accelerate ?? (small leak)

Had the same problem. Email WSP and they will send you this little part (its the thing that holds the o2 sensor on the ypipe). You will have to A: Buy a new O2 sensor (90 from VIP) B: Have someone take out the exsisting O2 sensor holder thing and put in the new one and relocate it a little lower. Whats happening is your front o2 sensor was banging against the car and over time it causes the sensor to break a little.
This is nothing really to worry about and you can put it off for a while. It will mess up your gas milage a little but as far as I know it wont hurt your car. I had this problem and didnt fix it for 3 months or so. Any questiosn just reply though, it is an easy fix for any shop

So Nick what you are sayin is that the 02 sensor i have in there now is shot/broken/garbage, and I have to buy a new 02 sensor and have WSP send me the bracket and it wont happen again...Is there any chance the front O2 sensor that has been "hittin" like you said, is still good ??
Thanks alot

More than likley your front o2 sensor is dead, yes. Sorry =(. Its really easy to tell though. Just go under your car and its on the front right of your car i think. Or just bring it over to a shop. I would say its about an hour labor. Youll get out for under $150 with the new o2 sensor. I know, it sucks.

um,

I just got my ypipe installed last weekend, and I too have tripped my front o2 sensor.. Its a new wsp pipe, and doesnt have a bee's in the can noise, would it still have banged up my sensor? If so , that sucks ! I have a '95 though and dont know that it has ever been changed, do you know the best place to get a new one ? Also, my biggest question, is when I reset it - it doesnt go off for 100ish miles or until I push the car hard (100+mph).. will it effect my performance in racing? I did not see a very big gain at all from the ypipe, would that be the reason ?

You will not see any gaines for a week or two...your ECU has to get used to the new addition to your car...no for the o2 sensor problem Im gonna call Dallas at WSP and see why my car is tripping that sensor...it tips it every 100 miles or so but if it was really bad it would trip it right away ?? i dont know

It's been 1 week and I put umm about 900 miles on the car, I have reset the ecu... and let it learn (it takes 400 miles to learn) I still only have a slight more pull on cars that used to be dead even (slight pull meaning: I can pull maybe 1 car from 60-120mph)...

i do have to admit it feels much better, I dont have to downshift as much, etc - but as far as racing, im not seeing the 15-20hp gain claimed by everyone..

The conversion was done last summer, and as for clutches, well, I dont feel like explaining it all, but I'm picky on clutches and I have put in lots of them (im on #6).. currently I dont even remember what this one is called, its getting the job done - but in 1 month when i get out of school, ACT Street clutch goes in ...

for info about the conversion, check my homepage (click the link to 5spd conversion in my signature)
