I have a slight noise I can hear while in park or neutral (1995, SE, Auto). Kind of a thrum thrum. It is fairly quiet and goes away when I put it in gear. Any ideas?

Also, I just replaced my starter and the shop is saying that ECU kickback caused the starter to go out and recomend replacing the ECU for $800. Any comments? I figure if I got 120K miles out of it on the this one I can replace the starter twice for that kind of money, and that is if a shop does it.
