Powertech Mufflers on e-Bay
Powertech Mufflers on e-Bay
I got the Powertech Muffler that is being offered on e-Bay, and had it installed today. Here are my impressions...
1st, I was impressed with the soft tones of the muffler when I started the car, and when I wasted a V6 Honda Accord through a canyon pass on my way home (probably not worth attributing to the muffler, but man was it cool...)
2nd, I was impressed (with what I'm sure was in my head) the feel of the muffler... It was cool to feel the muffler beneath your feet as I accelerated... (At least for a little while...)
3rd, I drove it on the freeway, and the good impressions I had were quickly deterred by what I was experiencing... Between 1500-3000 RPM, it was way too droning... A kind of muffled ricey sound... at about 3000 RPM, it was silent... In Overdrive, I was going about 65 MPH at about 2700 RPM, and the droning was louder than the stereo at times... So, I took it out of overdrive, pushing the RPM's to about 3500-3700 at the same speed, and the droning disappeared completely...
My overall impression? Well, I wanted a muffler that would roar at wide open throttle, (but my Pop Charger blows it out of the water in that regard...) I wanted this muffler to be relatively mute at freeway speeds... It is not... (Basically, I got the opposite results than what I was looking for...)
On the positive side, it does look good! I am impressed with it's overall appearance, but would not recommend it to anyone looking for the same characteristics as I was... I will be back to the muffler shop to have a resonator installed soon...
If you want to improve the appearance of your stock muffler, don't waste your $ on this muffler to do so...
I think I'll hang onto the stock muffler just in case...
