Is WSP's claim of 8-12hp increase with their intake & y-pipe true/false?

I took this quote from warpseed's site directly:

http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/maxcai.htm
"WarpSpeed Performance Maxima CAI Kits beat the under hood heat, these quality kits will give about an 8-12 hp increase to your Maxima when you have one of our Y pipes."

Isn't that too little?? People on the forum say the CAI alone will do a 5-8hp increase....while the y-pipe does like 12hp.

how can them both combined only give 8-12? Who is right??

Thanks.

I think what they mean is that if you have the Y-pipe the CAI might give ya 8-12, from what ive learned here the y-pipe alone will give ya 15+-, and the CAI or popcharger 5+-, but combined with a y-pipe they work better, therefore making more power each. The intake lets more airflow in but can only do so much with the stock restrictive exhaust but with the pipe, ya open it up and the intake can do its job better...... correct me if im wrong

What he means is that it will give you 8-12hp on top of the y-pipe. 12 is a little high, but I can definitely believe 8. The claims are realistic.

Don't expect free s/h - they already give a great deal, I think they'll do anything they can from support side, but I don't think they do deals - you may come off as a jerk - just my opinion. If you want to save - get the nonmandrel bent and save $30 - probably same gains in our application.

WSP support email reply

I just got e-mail back from WSP it reads as follows:

"The cai's come powder coated, the results vary per vehicle, the sohc version typically are good for about 6hp, the dohc more. I just depends upon the rest of your mods as to what you end up with. Our Y pipes are usually good for 18-20 on the gen 4 but again it depends upon the other mods you have done and hp is not always cumulative.

Remember, we have a larger collector and flex section (2-1/2" vs 2-1/4") on our Y pipes than Cattman and Stillen, at least compared to the Y pipes made by them we have in our shop awaiting repairs. Ours usually out perform theirs, even when they test them.

regards
Dallas"
