Question about import intelligence needles w/ rev. gauges

ok,i want my guages to look EXACTLY like these...
Ben's 97 Maxima...

http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...77_62_full.jpg
http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...77_61_full.jpg

I might be getting another maxima for myself, (the one in the pic is my sisters) and the problem is that those needles only fit 97 maximas, and not 98-99...the 98-99 maximas have those needles only in hyper red from www.importintelligence.com
now, i dont wanna buy a 97 maxima just for these guages...so if i get a 98-99 maxima, and take the needles from a 95-97 maxima, and install them in a 98-99 maxima...how hard would that be?? is it possible?

and where can i get those reverse indiglo gauges from??

Ok, first off, he dimmed the reverse indiglos.

Second, you can get clear needles off a 95-97 Maxima and replace your orange ones with the clear needles.

Third, it works with all needles. Some people for some reason think that only the "sport edition" will work with their kit. If you don't believe me, check out the eBay sellers lol, it is pretty funny stuff. They say SE to get your attention, that is all.

Fourth, the reverse indiglos are on eBay for like $33.95 or something like that, very cheap.

I have my set-up the same as Ben's, but I had it first, (for over 1.25 years now), but I don't have any pics lol. So I guess he gets credit. Also, you want to make sure that you get two blue LED 194s to go in your gauge cluster to light up the odometer/tripometer if you have a 95-97. Good luck with the kit guy.

If you don't think I know my stuff, take a look at what I did with my friends 00' Sport Dodge Ram. We bought the 6 needle kit (2 big and 4 small needles) and installed them under the needles. Took the orange backing off the needles and painted the back of the needles blue. Bought some 194 gauge cluster bulb bases from Nissan and put some blue LED 194s in them and put that in his Dodge cluster. Turned everything on for the first time and BAM, everything was blue, just like mine and Bens..... .....I'm good...

I have the same gauges in my 97 SE, ive heard they will work on a 98-99 as long as its an SE. You can get the gauges on ebay for around $40 shipped. I have the damn stock orange needles too, but at night they actually look pretty close to the red color in the gauges so it looks sweet. My tach is sticky from the gauges....so i still havent figured out why yet. But get the gauges youll be happy with them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eb...2&r=0&t=0:eek:

So the reverse gauges are the ones the light up the numbers and not the faces right? Also, how does the brightness change, does it have a **** like on our OEM gauges or is it the little push button pad?

With my setup the old dimmer switch still works, but because the gauges actually go over the stock ones, it only dims the radio, clock, needles and odometer. The reverse indiglos come with a dimmer and color changer switch that works the new gauges. And yeah with reverse indiglo it lights up the numbers not the face

Where are you putting the new dimmer switch to control the gauges? Also in Ben's 97, does he have the indiglo needle kit with it? Is it possible to install both the reverse indiglo gauges with the indiglo needle kit? It thinks it looks great!

Maximus97:
yes...he along with reverse indiglo guages has the needle kit, which in my opinion is absolutly astonishing!!

Ramius83:
Ok so, will these REVERSE indiglo guages fit 98 and 99's???
and i know that the needles wont fit with 98-99s, but as u said, u can replace them with 95-97 needles that are clear...

Krash513:
U have the orange needles? the whole point is to also get these blue needles, which will match with ur gauges. What do u mean by sticky?? do the needles stick to the guages???

**so therefore, there is no purpose in just buying a 97 maxima for this setup, because it is possible with 98-99's...correct???

PROBLEMS: anyone have any problems with their setup?? (Ramius83), like problems with the needle kit, and guages???

99Maxse, The neddles in 97's are also orange. When I did mine I bought a 96SE cluster from a junkayard and took the white needles off of it. I don't see why you couldn't do the same. You can sand the paint off the back of the orange needles and paint then white or blue but the factory white needles look much better. Just make sure you get a reverse indiglo guage set for a 98-99 cause you have a digital OD in those years.
Only problem I had was that the holes for the needle rests were too large and the needle rests wouldn't snap in like they did on the factory guages. I used a hot glue gun to hold them in place.
I would also suggest useing a hot glue gun to hold the guage faces in place because using double stick tape holds the guage up a little to high and the needles tend to stick.

Its weird how nissan changes the position of the fuel and temp guage, don't you think so? I've been trying to look for reverse indiglos for my 1998 I30, but have had no luck. I have a digital odometer and my fuel guage is on the left and temp guage is on the right.

Ive got a set of Reverse indiglo's I want to get rid of. I tried installing them 3 or 4 times, but the needles would always stick, no matter how much double sided tape I used...

I also have the orange color needle in my 97. What if I was to use the red needle kit with the reverse indiglos, anyone ever tried this? Would it look alright? I would like to do the blue needle kit, but it doesn't look like this will be a possiblity with my orange needles. What do you think?

I don't think the red would look good. Yo can scrape the orange paint off the back of your needles and paint them blue or white. Or, you can go to a junkyard and get a cluster for a 95-96 SE. I would do one of these and get the blue led's.

Maybe you've never used a glue gun. It isn't permanent, thats whats so nice about it. But what do I know, I've only done 7 sets of these gauges, none with any problems.

I have a 96 SE, so from what I understand, i buy reverse indiglo guages and intelliglow needle kit. What is this talk then about putting additional blue 194's in the guage cluster, how is this done? What is the difference in looks if you don't put the 194's? Is the very first picture in this thread with the 194's? In your opinion, what looks better? Thanks.

Since u have a 96, u have odometer that is not digital. u can put in a blue blub in ur cluster so that it glows blue and not the stock blub color, it will then match ur needles/indiglos...

Well then, why dont you come on up to WA and do mine for me? Seriously, I have used a glue gun, but for reverse indiglo's, it's just not worth the hassle to me. I used enough double sided tape to stick my car to a ceiling, and the gauges still didn't stick right, I don't find them all that cool and must have, I rather add something that makes my car go faster. All go, no show...

Let me try and help you with this. Your saying the guages won't stick no matter how much tape you use, hence my suggetion to use a GLUE GUN. In a previous post you said you tried it 3 or 4 times but the needles would always stick. Why? too much/ too thick tape. Again this is why I suggested a GLUE GUN. If you don't like the idea of using a glue gun then don't but don't go flaming me for it. Maybe it will help someone who wants the gauges.
BTW I'll be more than glad to do yours but you'll have to bring them to NY. It'll take about a half hour.

I wasn't trying to flame you, see the mood lightning smilie I added? I think your idea does have merrit, I'm sure it worked for you and would probably work for me too. However, I personally dont want to go to that extent to mount the gauges. Nothing against you. Thanks for adding in the glue gun part, I never thought of trying that, and I know a LOT of people have had trouble with sticking gauges, so hopefully this will help some people out. As always...

I might be getting another maxima for myself, (the one in the pic is my sisters) and the problem is that those needles only fit 97 maximas, and not 98-99...the 98-99 maximas have those needles only in hyper red from www.importintelligence.com
now, i dont wanna buy a 97 maxima just for these guages...so if i get a 98-99 maxima, and take the needles from a 95-97 maxima, and install them in a 98-99 maxima...how hard would that be?? is it possible?

and where can i get those reverse indiglo gauges from??
that looks sweet
