painted splash guards...?

i've only seen one 4th generation with painted splash guards and all the rest are 5th. i was wondering if anyone else has theirs painted? i have a 95 pearl white and have just been wondering how it would look...cuz sometimes i feel like the black just stands out a lot. this is only an idea so no flames please. also, i know you need to add flex to the paint but...is that a separate paint or just an additive? because i have small cans of left over paint from when i got my spoiler done and i was wondering if i could just use that and add the flex stuff...? any suggestions are appreciated. thanx

I was considering the same thing. I have the pearl white, so DupliColor spray cans won't cut it. Does Nissan sell this paint in any form other than touch up paint? I was told by a body shop that the flex is in the primer.

I just got my splash guards for my white '97 SE, and I'm going to have them painted. Got some friends that paint, so I'll get them done this next week. I'll post some pics if you want to wait and see. Email me directly and I'll post you when it's done. SavageG@wwdb.org

Uh, don't think so. Go to a paint shop and give them your paint code. Find a good shop and have them paint them for you. When it comes to painted items, you get what you pay for. If you get the paint, it shouldn't cost you much for them to do them for you.

As for the girlfriend costing almost twice as much as your car, I now know why I'm still single.

Hmmm sounds to me like a vinyl paint would work best. I would think you would need to use a paint that can flex. If you used an ordinary paint it would crack and flake off. I also have seen a white max with marching flaps very nice.

I used a White Vinyl paint and quite

frankly, it doesn;t match all that bad. A couple of times a year, i have to touch it up, but I sure saved quite a few bucks !

I have black splash guard on a white max. It looks just fine. I think painted would make them stand out more, and less atractive. Also they will get visibly dirty real quick, then they just look nasty.

I've seen some Max's with the mudd flaps painted to match the car. I don't much like it. The black breaks it up. Heres a pick of one. It's a nice color.(forgot who's car this is)http://images.cardomain.com/installs...20_26_full.jpg

Paint them if your car is a light color, leave them black if your car is a dark color.

Have a body shop paint them using the flex additive that is used
when they paint your bumper covers. This will prevent the annoying
cracking that can occur on these non metal surfaces.

I'd be afraid of goin over a speed bump and one scrape and there goes your paint. It'll be all cracked and spider webbed. BTW, anyone know where I can get a single right rear mud flap?

i've never scraped mine once...so i wouldn't be worried. i'd check on ebay for one...i doubt you'll find just one but you may get a pair cheap. i got mine last year on ebay for $36 or $46 i forget...dealer charges like $85...so check there. later

Same here!
I haven't even scratched the front lip (touch wood). Just be a little careful. BTW, I am lowered on B&G Springs, 1.6" drop front & rear!

Cheers!

My Maxima is white with black mudflaps, but matching the flaps white was too hard, so I just painted my car black to match them.

I just ordered my set from Nissan for $88 for all 4. With a white car, I'm thinking of painting the outside white to match, but leaving the inside (toward the wheel) black, so I don't have to worry about cleaning all the road muck out of it all the time.

To avoid the scraping, I was just going to paint the top part of the mud flap (closest to the body). The flap has a line in it, and I would just leave the bottom part black. A good example of this is the Toyota 4RUnner limited's rear mudflaps (that's where I got the idea).
