warm startup
warm startup
got a problem of warm startup, especially after the car being exposed for a while in a hot sunny day, it takes longer to start the enginee. Sometimes step on acceslator may help. A computer check by dealer shows i have to replace a Knockout sensor and a ventilation control valve. They are all costly and I have not idea of necessarity of these replacement. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Re: warm startup
The owner's manual recommends keeping the
accelerator fully depressed whenever
restarting withing half an hour on a hot
day. Not sure why that is...sounds to me
like you don't want to hit 3000-4000 RPMs
on an engine which hasn't received oil
for upto 30 minutes? I believe *all* oil
is drained within 4 hours after shutting
down the engine.
Interestingly, I read somewhere recently
that *hot* restarts (i.e. within a few
minutes of a fully warmed engine shutdown)
aren't such a good idea--better to let
the car sit for a while. This is especially applicable during a car's
break-in period.

my car had the exact same problem!!! - on days hotter than 90F, it took me forever to get the POS started. took it to the dealer, they replaced the starter.....seemed fine for a few days, until the problem occured again. the problem turned out to be something wrong with the alarm.........they changed that for free and no more problems.........do u happen to have an automate alarm ?

Check the starter relay... when ure alarm is armed, it cuts power to the starter... sometimes in the heat, it becomes "sticky"... i had that problem too, then i ended up having a starter button installed that bypassed it.
