heres an idea for real tuners.

ok, i recently posted about putting dry ice next to the CAI tube or near the filter. well, that wouldnt work for too long as the ice would melt/evap. what if, one were to get more AC tubing and spiral that around the CAI tubing. Viola! Permenant coldness... I like this idea and may look into that, who could construct something like htat?

dry ice near the filter will cause the car to run lean since it will be sucking up carbon.

It might work if you put it around the tubing under the hood and the ice doesnt evap that fast

Dont you think the small HP gain from cooling the intake like that would be cancelled by running the AC compressor all the time?

That thing uses about 7hp...

Also, the A/C compressor is disengaged under wide open throttle so it wouldn't have time to cool anything. Not a bad thought though. I tried this on my friends car but dicovered that you would have to have an evaporator in the path of the intake charge. Wrapping the low pressure hose around it isn't enough, and you'd have to have the compressor running constantly. Just not worth it. Like I mentioned in your last post, the "ice box" worked the best. Youi can use ice or a freon shot. Only good for short runs though.

Actually thought about doing that with a Air/Water intercooler (aftercooler)... but the AC line is on the other side of the car.

Water has great thermal stability... If we get 2 gallons down to like 33F that would be very useful for those with S/Cs... don't think it would do much for NA.
