I wish to purchase a 1998 to 2001? and want opinions on why a certain year or model is best for me. All comments will be greatly appreciatted!

Note: I hope to find one with a light color exterior and interior, with leather, and luxury features. Would this be a greater problem?

 

Id go with the 98: Its faster, looks better, more avalible mods, and is much cheaper!

 

1998 has 190hp
1999 has 190hp
2000 has 222hp
2001 has 229hp

I read 5th generation has been having paint problems, especially on the front of the hood chipping. i like the 4th generation or the 2002.

 

youre asking this on the 4th gen forum, so most people here will probably tell you to get a 98 or 99.

 

Where in the he// did you get 229hp? The AE and I30 have 227. But the Normal SE/GXE/GLE's have the same as the 01, which is 222 @6400. Just to clear things up, geeez!! look at me crying over 2hp

 

It comes down to which body style u like. A 98 with low mileage would come cheaper and are a bit faster (i think) because of lighter weight even though the horsepower is less. If you like to really harness the power out of the max, get a 5spd, fully loaded. I have a 97 like that and am very satisfied and i got it for 13,900.

Exactly the kind of info I'm looking for...I like the 1998 and I like the idea of saving money. Other than horsepower, I am curious if any major changes or options were added between 1998 and 2001. I don't think so, but what do I know? Sure do appreciatte your comments.

 

The 1999 shown looks like a great choice for me. I wonder if it can be found in a light colored interior? I'm not really sure which model has more features or is considered more "loaded"....the GXE or the SE? Could someone clarify? Thanks for all your thoughts....
