I drove a 97SE that had a visor with a built in garage door opener (I think). It had three small buttons, like Ive seen in Chrysler products.

Does anyone know if this visor can be moved into a 96 SE?

I don't see why not....

It just needs a source of power. The transmitter is built into the visor itself.

That's the HOMELINK system. I think you can run your home security system and your garage door openers if your house is compatible with it.

Scary thing about those Homelink transmitters is that you can record your neighbors garage door codes. I did it to my mother inlaw and when she went to close her garage door, I had some fun with her and kept opening it back up. She was really pissed that I could record her garage door codes.

pretty nifty device. one for garage door, one for security, and one for lights.

true, you can capture your neighbor's code without having them knowing. (they can do the same to yours as well. beware!)

watch out for the new openers that use the new HOMELINK.
I have a 97 SE with the homelink and it worked fine on our
5 year old garage door opener from Sears. Then my kids
burned out that one so I bought a new one made by Genie
with the HOMELINK2...Now my homelink won't learn the new
opener whichs sucks big time. They upgraded something in the
new garage door openers (HOMELINK 2 or something) and they
won't work with the original homelinks in the Maxima's

Yup, the early to mid-year Homelink unitsj in the Maximas will not work with the newer rolling code garage door openers. You can call Homelink directly and they can tell you when their units were upgraded in 97. I bought my car in March and the Homelink unit isn't compatible with my new Genie door opener.
