Engine Bay with the MEVI
Engine Bay with the MEVI
With the number of people looking to buy MEVIs I figured this would be a good question for you all.
Do you like the engine bay with just the MEVI
or does it look cleaner with the cover?
I know most people aren't too fond of engine covers, but it does hide a lot of extra wiring.
What do you think?

I like both pics.
Depends on the situation.
For example at a car show the cover being off would set your car apart from other maxima's...
But at the local hang out the cover would hide what you have extra.
Also paint the cover's to match each other. Would look smoother IMHO

I think painted would definitely look better
As far as the FSTB goes I don't think fittment would be too big of an issue. There's quite a bit of space between the manifold and the bar.

The cover should fit with our current manifold, but you need a bracket that the bolts in the cover attach to. I would only buy the cover with the MEVI because frankly I think it looks ugly :P I don't think it would be worth the cost (even though I don't know how much the cover costs) to ship from ME or Japan because of the shipping.
I'll see if I can find out how much the cover costs.

I think it looks good both ways. WIth the cover it looks like all newer cars do - nice and clean, almost like the engine is modular. W/o it looks more muscular to me. I'm in the gd to get the VI and I am not trying to get the cover. Painted would definitely make it look much nicer too.

With the FSTB if you take a look at Ians' picture his car has the FSTB on with no problems. And the cover doesn't go behind the manifold so you don't have to worry about the fitment.

Hey everyone, My GD ends tomorrow...$560 shipped to your door.
I'm checking on the covers myself, but my supplier doesn't like to "add" things to orders. He's trustworthy, but somewhat grumpy.

I like it. I think it makes it look like a newer, more expensive engine. I just wish it didn't have all those ribs in it and I wish it had some Nissan or Maxima logos on there so it looked less 'aftermarketish'. Worth getting for sure.

I'm just glad it doesn't entirely cover the engine, but does cover lots of the wires and fuel rail. When I get my cover I'm going to paint it black, but a Nissan logo or something would be nice. Can anyone think of any badges that might look good on it?-hype
By the way, if you search online REAL hard, you can find the PDF File for Nissan's Marketing report for the Middle East Region in 1998.
It's officially called VIAS "Variable Induction Air System"
I think it's also called this in the US for the 2000+ models.

Back from the dead......
I personaly like the look without the cover and had decided to not use one.
But since its now available in CF I will be using to go with my CF theme.
I will post pics of it once I recieve it.

If anyone is interested - I have 3 or 4 of these covers and the bracket for fitting them onto the MEVI in my garage.
I however do not have the bolts/screws for mounting - but those should be easy for someone to find.
$40 shipped.
