You'll beat the living cr*p outta him. Make sure to smoke him hard, but be wary if he's running NOS cause he can claim fast victory if it's not a long race.

No offense to your friend, but that's just complete ignorance on his part. Before you race him, let him drive your car. Watch his mouth drop. It'll be more effective than just mutilating him in a race (which you would do).

yes the galant VR-4, but those were 91-92. Those are pretty quick, I've seen a couple at the track, they are good to do a low 15 stock and low 14 with a turbo timer.

You said its a galant S, so I think you'll have an easy kill. You don't have to worry about engine swaps with the Galants the Eclipse engine doesn't fit in any of the galants after 92. Leave your spare in the trunk, and you can probably even be able to bring a lighter passenger to film it.

You mean a boost controller, not a turbo timer. A turbo timer simply allows the car to run after you've removed the key from the ignition, so that you don't coke the oil by letting it sit in a super hot turbo.

Besides GVR4s, Galants are a joke when it comes to performance. You will own him.

top speed 139-140mph

my test times:
0-60 7.3 1/4 @ 15.6 @ 93mph

timer-controler, neither of which I have a need for... yet. Thanks though for the correction. I sincerely hope you are not losing sleep over this race. You'll really own him if you are a 5 spd, but I think you said you guys are auto's? I would start getting money involved.

I dunno, Galant's are weak cars. My friend has a brand new Galant V6 ES. It feels quick, but not as quick as my Maxima... and definetly not as quick as a 2k2 Max.

HAHAHAHAH, after i read this, i was cracking up. This must be a joke. A Galant?? Talking SH** ?? i dont care if it has a catbak or not. A STOCK 5sp max will CREAMATE it, a stock auto max will bury it. So anyways u have any mods?

Like the others said unless it's a VR4 Galant, you'll have no problem with it.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't know why people always post "how would I do against this or that". Only sure way to find out is to race, then you'll know for sure. And if you get beat, you get beat. No biggie.

well i very much thought the galant was a piece of crap too, i drove one one time when i was valet parking last year and pumped it, and it took off pretty good compared to wut i expected, it has 195 ponies stock, i think the V6 one..but it doesnt compare with the max still, no torque or upper end HP..wether youre auto or not, u WILL make him regret that he ever said that

Heh. I think we're all pretty much in agreement here that the Galant is too weak to beat you.

So go ahead and bury him.

And let us know how it goes.

If you get beat, let us know how and why. That would pretty much be impossible, but I believe driver skill/experience has a lot to do with the outcomes of all races. Know your car and its capabilites. Then kick some @$$.

Yeah. One thing NOT to do is floor it off the line. You won't get as much speed that way. Go about 3/4th off the line and then floor it as you go - you'll get much smoother and quicker acceleration. At least, in my experience. And unless you plan on taking it over 120, keep your O/D off from the beginning.

Then again, all this advice is probably pointless. You could probably beat him at 1/2 throttle.

My friend has a 98 Galant with the exhaust done up and we raced. My car was stock and his car is a auto as well as me(for the time being) and I did him dirty with no problem what-so-ever. I don't have the heart to tell him that his car is slow.

are you kidding me? you are asking about a galant? those things are weak. unless he has a 100 shot of nos, sc, and its turbo charged, then you dont have a problem.

Make sure your friend's cool with it. Wouldn't want to embarrass him too bad.

Yup, VR-4's are awesome, my friend drives a 91 VR-4 w/ an american engine (200hp) and another guy at our school drives a VR-4 (Japanese engine 240hp)... and those cars are sooo fast...

Anyone who knos bout VR-4s... would a SCed Maxima be able to take em?
