The 240SX is most likely powered by the KA24DE will always get owned by a Maxima with a VQ30DE, I can actually whoop their @$$ with my 88 Maxima SE with VG30E. This KA24DE, which is surprisingly torquey, is the same engine is some Sentra SE-R.

Now, if you killed a 240SX manual with a SR20DE engine, that would be something. I don't think you'd be able to beat a SR20DET, those suckers run in the 9s.

wow you "killed" a 140hp 4-banger.

It only matters if they have a chance.

avalon42: 9's? Not if its a "street" car, and not without major engine overhaul and turbo upgrades.

Well with your luck, you were lucky you didnt come across a stock Civic HX.

Man, you would have been in a world of hurt then!

J30s run 16.5 or sumthing like their counterpart NA 300zx. Twin turbo is totally a different story. If the prelude had turbo, you'll get dusted, if the prelude is stock, you might stand a chance. The 92 preludes push 190 hp. Hope this helps...

You know what I meant. I've seen a '91 240SX with the SR20DET with NOS run in the upper 8's. The damned thing had a body kit, sound system, and everything, plus it was auto.

Definitely do your homework before officially getting your @$$ taken by a 4 banger.

Nice pic on your sig though, who are those chicks?

Ummm If I remember correctly a Stock 92 Prelude has a 2.3ltr I4 with 160hp/156lbft and weighs in at about 2900lbs... and that is the Si the S has a 2.1ltr 135hp/142lbft and weighs in at about 2800lbs

The first 190hp Prelude was and I could be wrong a 93 which is when they introduced the VTEC version of the 2.2ltr Prelude and it weighed in at about 3000lbs. Oh and it still made no torque with only 158lbft

As usual this is IMHO

Nope.

All SE-R's up until these newest ones have had the SR20DE.

My car, with a funny car engine, would do 4's.

The KA24DE engine was shared by the 240SX, the altima, and the nissan pickup truck.

The KA24DE was also in the 1st and 2nd Gen. Altima, good engine but nothing can top a VQ in the Maxima

You will most likely beat the 92' Prelude. But, if he has a turbo and you are bone stock the prelude will probably pull away from you...also depending on how much boost he is running. But, no turbo you should be able to take him if he only has an intake

J30s were 210 hp VG with over-weight bodys. What's funny about the J30 is I don't see where all that weight is Easy kill for the VQ. The race could have got interesting though if you met him at >100 mph.

Why is everyone picking on family members anyway?

I think easy kill on the prelude. But,if turboed you'll probably get beat. Depending of course on the PSI. But I think it would be a close race with a Y-pipe and exhaust vs. a turbo prelude. But, I think you would probably lose. Just my thoughts.

I thought that the Japanese Silvia's were the ones that came with the SR20DE engine which is turbocharged?

240SX that do that engine swap, will run low 14s, high 13s depending on other bolt ons.

Yep, you're right. But most import the engine and drop it into a 240 or even a Sentra.

Sleeper Motorsports in San Bernardino is dropping a SR20DET and Hydralic tranny into a 96 Honda Civic. Why, who knows...
