Any chance you killed it trying to do the window switch LED mod?

My suggestion would be to check out a junkyard. You might be able to get one nice and cheap. I doubt anyone here is going to have one just lying around.

Did you short it out or something? Do you have control of the power lock and window still on that door? Just having the light not come on seems like something definately went wrong.

The Passenger Door light will not come on ever since I accidently
touched the metal bulb holder with a screw driver and both side
made contact.
I disconnected the whole plastic bulb holder and plugged it
into the drivers side door and it came on.
There is power going to the wires, I check them with a voltmeter
and a test light.
One wire is 12v and the other is 4.9 volts
On the drivers side the voltage is different
one is 12v and the other is 0v.
I get the light to come on when I put in a wire with one side grounded to the door latch and the other side to the wire with 4.9v.
But when I shut the door it stays on.

That's really odd. I know a bit about electronics and I kind of maybe possibly think I know what your problem might be, but I'm not sure so I don't want to give ya any advice right now. I'm going to try something tommorow... I'll let you know.

No, no. Post the answer/idea. I'm in the same boat and was told I needed a passenger switch also. The light didn't work on my car when I bought it and it's bugging me. If I can get out of buying another switch just to make the light work, I would be chuffed.

I've exactly the same problem but mine is on driver side!
It has about 4.5V reading and the light won't come on plus the dome light and only the passanger light comes on when I open the door.
I think I was trying to put the heavy wattage bulbs into the light housing and this whole thing started.
I couldn't figure out the problem since then...
damn... my trunk light stays on all the time no matter I open it or close it.
Anyone knows the solution for this?

I thought about replacing the window switch circuit board because I might have fried it when both metal bulb holders came in contact.
Why don't you try it and hit me back. I can't do anything now
because I'm in Kuwait on Air Force Missions. The Maximas over
here look a bit different. Instead of 3.0L they are 3.0J
I'll try and get some photos.
