I dont know but you guys fill me in on how a car that is heavier (328is) with the same power as the Max can be soooooooo much quicker. Simple math. its not possible.
The max getting smoked......... I dont think so.
Have a race where you are both rolling and then see what you can see. I think you wil be very surprised about how close that contest will actually be.

I'm talking straight line offcourse
I smoked one in the corners one time, and even if driver ability mine being wonderful and his being half-a$$ then he wouldn't have gotten left in the dust on a twisty road by the front wheel drive race car

By the way guys, i have raced one but I only had an intake and cat-back, the only reason i beat him was driver ability if I had been driving the Bimmer I would have gotten beat by about 1/2 car length at the most, however now that I have the y-pipe I know I would beat him by at least a car length. I say this because I beat a Acura CL type S to 60 on the track, and they run 6.4 and also beat a 225HP Audi TT to 60 and they run 6.2 so my guesstamite 0-60 time in my car is something like 6.1 or 6.2

Also one more thing, the guy that had the 328 who was a **** in the first place got smoked by and then bought a 97 Max
too bad for him he should have got a 5spd

Both cars have the same HP and Torue:
190HP and 205 torque.
OKK, just raced my friend with his 97' 328is 5sp vs my auto 97 max SE. We raced twice and couldnt race anymore cause there were cops everywhere. each race was up to 60 since we couldnt go more than that at the time.

First race: we did a rolling start from about 20 and i jumped out infront and he was on my tail dead even.

second race: we started from about 35 and he got me by a car length.

I think he can get me by 1/2 - 3/4 car lenght just by analyzing these 2 races.

Even with the result, he was surprised that max's can do what they do. He also said he was driving "very good" during the races. OH and he didnt "SMOKE" me. !!

Now i dont wanna throw out excuses but i have 1 that might have dramatically affected these races. My knock sensor is bad, code 0304. Do you guys think that was a big factor in the races or not?

Actually it's low to mid sixes...And the info comes from Motor Trend and Car and Driver issues of the past.

[i]My friend times his own car and got 7.0 .[/B]
Oh- so because your friend timed his car at 7.0 that makes you right...as well as discredits the actual professionals.

The new 330ci 5sp does the 0-60 in 6.2 .[/B]
5.9 actually (edmunds)

[i]
and your telling me a 97 can do it in 6.4? .[/B]
That's what I'm telling you.

Good job- but next time race from a dead stop. Watch him rev to 5k and then drop the clutch and take off. (RWD.. ) You will never catch up. That's where his advantage lies. My guess is at least 2 or 3 car lengths he will have on you..and the distance will become greater and greater as the speed increases.....and just for the record that's getting smoked in my book.

Well see you have an advantage right there, you are starting from a roll, if you start from a dead stop you will stomp the gas and not go anywhere till about 3k, whereas he can dump the clutch from 3k and leave you sitting, that is just how autos are they don't have much off the line, but good race anyway

Raced a 2k1/2k2(?) m3 just for the heck of it. I knew I'd lose, but I wasn't blown away like one would expect. It was fun and it was worth the adrenaline while it lasted
