Water in the Passenger Floor
Water in the Passenger Floor
Since i started using the A/C this summer, i seem to always have damp carpet under the foormat on the passenger side. I pulled up the carpet today and the pad is soaking wet. I see where the condensation normaly leeks out of the car, when i park after using the ac there is a puddle, but im thinking the line might have a slow leak in it thats putting water in the floor.
Im wondering if anyone has experienced this or has a solution. Or does anyone know exactly where the line that removes the condensation is.
Thanks

That same thing is happening to my friends Altima.
The dealer told her that the line to drain condensation off of the A/C is plugged. They supposedly unplugged the line. However I believe the problem is returning, so I can't tell you for sure thats the problem. I think it's definately related though

Years ago, I had some work done on my wife's car. The mechanic turned the drain hose up to get it out of the way and left it there. Since the end of the hose was higher than the top of the condenser box, condensation overflowed into the passenger floorboard.
Crawl under the car and check the hose. It's on the passenger side near the drive axle.

If you take a close look under the glove box, under the dash, right by the fire wall you will see the connection for the drain for the A/C. Make sure it's on there snug. You may want to pull it off, blow some air throught to make sure it's not plugged and connect it again.
You could have some crap in the A/C condenser unit blocking the drain slightly from inside. You'll need to take the blower unit out to gain access. A bit of a PITA.

We had the same problem in our old Jeep Cherokee. The drain hose was clogged and water would overflow into the passenger floor. Just make sure the drainage tubes are clear and that should fix the problem.
i'm having this problem, too, except i'm getting more than a drip. after a long run with a/c on, followed by turning in either direction, you can hear water flowing then it dumps all over the passenger's feet (or towards the driver on a hard right). my floor mats are soaked. i found what i think is the a/c drain in the engine on the firewall below the heater hoses. it seems ok. i can't find it inside the car though. do i need to remove the glove box or anything else to get at it? anyone have any tips before i start pulling things apart?
thanks

If you remove the glovebox (6 screws), you can see the blower assembly and condensor box. You can remove the blower motor and gain some access to the inside of the condensor box (this is for the person who asked about getting to them).
Check your drain under the hood, on the firewall, passenger side down low. Make sure it is clear and pointed down. Also make sure it is hooked up! Also check inside the car all around the condensor box. Maybe it has a hole or leak in it.
